Hey everybody! Summer is winding down. It’s that time of year to Fall back into Autumn. That means pumpkin spice everything, back to school carpools, (hopefully) cooler weather, and, of course, Fall High Point Market! I am beyond excited to announce that I am once again partnering with Esteem Media to bring you an exclusive peek behind the scenes at High Point Market on the Design Bloggers Tour.
What is High Point Market?
If you’re a designer yourself, or you’ve been following me for a while, you probably already know all about High Point Market – so if that is you, just skip ahead to the next section. If not, here’s a quick crash course on all things High Point Market
Twice a year, (Fall and Spring) a who’s who of the design industry gathers in High Point, North Carolina to visit designer-exclusive furniture, textile, and accessory vendors to source for their projects, showrooms, or retail spaces for the upcoming year. And the Design Bloggers tour organizes a fabulous line-up of design influencers to give you a preview of all the design trends you’re about to see pop up in the coming years. I like to compare it to the Fashion Week of home furnishings.
This year, we’re visiting a few of my absolute favorite vendors like Four Hands, Bernhardt, Aiden Gray, EJ Victor, Surya, and Universal Home!
Why High Point, North Carolina?
I know it seems kinda random, right? But actually the maker and furnishings manufacturers have a long-standing history with the town as a central spot for them to design, manufacture, and distribute their gorgeous collections across the country. I love High Point because it’s where you find a lot of furnishings made right here in the USA. And if you know me, shopping locally is a high priority of mine and try to do it whenever I can!
On the Design Bloggers Tour, we’ll be shopping some of my favorite companies that manufacture gorgeous pieces right here in the US like Thibaut, Norwalk Furniture, Crypton Fabrics, Bernhardt and more!
What Other Design Influencers Will be on the Design Bloggers Tour?
Esteem always orchestrates a fabulous lineup of design industry influencers to bring you varied perspectives on what’s hot at market, that way you’re not just reading the exact same blog from every single one of us. Gee, that’d be boring, huh? This year consists of some pretty awesome folks. I’m in good company:
How To Spot Interior Design Trends
I know I said before, you’re going to read all sorts of different things from all of us, and what I’m about to say might sound kind of contradictory, but hear me out: keep an eye out for when we do post or write about the same things. When you have all different designers and tastemakers and bloggers from around the country agree on something, that’s going to be a trend or product to watch out for!
Last year, for example, a number of us went gaga over modern, neutral tone-on-tone palettes, and casual, family-friendly furnishings. We all discovered a love for Wexel art frames because they are the perfect sleek, neutral, and customizable wall decor that complimented the clean lines from brands we use all the time like Universal Furniture, Bernhardt, and Century. We were all awed by Crypton fabrics’ cutting edge stain-resistant fabrics. Perfect for family homes — and I’ve been writing about it ever since!
And on the other end of the spectrum, we were drawn to the affordable, colorful, industrial-boho furnishings from Younger and niche collections like Bend Goods, which have popped up in retail spaces everywhere! Perfect for city-living, teen rooms, or media rooms.
