For the last two days the girls from Design Camp and I have hobnobbed with the big guns of the interior design world at Legends of La Cienega, a celebration that has become my favorite interior design event in Los Angeles. Not only do I get to spend time in the lovely shops and quaint courtyards of the La Cienega Design District visting with friends, eating exquisite food, viewing the finest furniture/fabrics and listening to panels lead by the top interior designers in the world-but it counts as work!!
The festivities began on Wednesday night at Rose Tarlow’s Melrose House with live music and tables filled with goodies from around the world. We ran into our friends Newell Turner, Editor in Chief House Beautiful and Una Malan of Una Malan London. (PS Una’s dresses are now available at Fred Segal – and they are divine!)
On Thursday we got started with the Elle Decor Power Lunch hosted by Editor in Chief Michael Boodro. He was so cute standing politely at the door, greeting all of his guests. Just like his magazine, he’s all class.
Simple but elegant, the florals and food were my favorite of the entire event.
Next we headed over to meet our friend Pam Jaccarino the Editor in Chief at LUXE Magazine who led a panel discussion on current inspiration from the Far East.
LUXE recently launched a China publicaton-interior design world domination!
After a few more lectures the day wrapped at the Traditional Home party at Lee Stanton. It was almost too busy to move but we were able to stop and chat with Traditional Home Editor in Chief Ann Maine about Design Camp. She loved it!
Another person who loved Design Camp was the fabulous Susanna Salk. We’re currently working out details for her segment at the Austin Design Camp (fingers crossed on timing) and a few educational videos for Design Camp On Demand.
I checked out a few more lectures and ended with a fabulous lunch hosted by Architectural Digest. I love being an interior designer.
