We love a modern farmhouse and recently we were able to partner with the wonderful team at White Sands Coastal and complete a gorgeous modern farmhouse by the beach! One of the best parts of designing a coastal farmhouse are all the little design details that go into the bathrooms. Here’s how to get the look yourself:
Farmhouse Vanity
Your vanity may take up the most square footage in your coastal farmhouse bathroom and serve as the primary focal point, so choosing the right one is so important both for functionality and for defining the right style! Make sure you measure correctly and customize to your particular needs: standard vanity depth is generally 21 inches. But if you’re prioritizing more floor space in a small bath you can certainly trim.
Patterned Ceramic Tile
If you’ve been reading the Lori Dennis Green Blog for very long, you know we’re suckers for a ceramic tile that makes a statement! They’re durable, stylish, and perfect for the flooring or backsplash of your modern coastal farmhouse.
Clean-Beauty Soap & Lotion
What you (and any houseguests) put on and in your body is so important. We’re big believers in healthy, sustainable living and are always on the prowl for new, luxurious bath products that fulfill these requirements and look good on a countertop. Here are some of our favorites:
Reclaimed Wooden Mirror
One of the tenets of the modern farmhouse design is including some casual, exposed, industrial features. A great way to introduce this style into your coastal farmhouse bathroom is in the form of an oversized vanity mirror.
Turkish Towels
Perfect for the beach because they can double as both beach and bath towels, Turkish foutas are an elegant, casual design (all of our favorite things) and a must for your coastal farmhouse bath!
Industrial Sconces
One of the biggest mistakes made when people try to DIY their bathroom design is getting the lighting wrong — rather than harsh overhead lighting, you’re going to want to op’t for more flattering front lighting in the form of a couple of stylish wall sconces on either side of your vanity mirror.
